We've finally reached the end of the first season of The Ultimatum: Queer Love (TUQL) If you haven’t read Part 1, or Part 2, I’d suggest you go read them and come back here when you’re ready to get into the chaos that is Part 3.

I messed up and read some spoilers. I usually stay off of Twitter because that’s where I encounter 99% of spoilers for any show/movie. I opened it out of habit and was met with several spoilers in under a minute. So I will try my best to write about these final two episodes without zoning out.

Episode 9:

So Yoly said yes… I am very confused because, after all of that with Xander, it would’ve been a hard no for me. I’m also very confused because Yoly issued the ultimatum and is now doubting Mal’s readiness for marriage. I still feel like Yoly wants to explore things with Xander.

Tiff and Mildred are NOT it. Tiff is very convinced that marriage is what she’s supposed to do next regardless of whether she’s done the work or not. I can’t believe Tiff actually proposed. Side eye. Like they couldn’t even communicate the other day, bffr.

When Aussies started telling that story, I was worried that Aussie was going to give Sam an actual rock. Okay, it's technically a rock… It’s the thought that counts right? Okay, there’s an actual proposal. Sam said yes.

We are currently 3 for 5. I did not expect Aussie to actually propose so kudos to Aussie. But I think they’re truly made for each other.

Xander saying they’d be losing Vanessa forever if they don’t get engaged and like maybe that’s for the best? Okay, so they’re done. Thank God. They should be together as birds, not humans.

I guess nothing is ever black and white because Yoly talking to Xander and saying she doesn’t know what she’d do if Xander decided to fight for her. Maybe you should’ve said no to Mal. Yoly saying “I don’t want to leave without you,’ was so offputting. Like just be with Xander and spare Mal the discomfort of being engaged to you for however long.

Is Rae actually proposing? Wow. Okay. So that’s 4 out of 5 couples that said yes, but I’m about to say Yoly and Mal do not count.

I was not feeling that entire episode.

Episode 10: The Reunion

So Rae and Lexi are still together at the time of the reunion, interesting. They seem happy, but why did she bring up fingergate? It was going so well.

I can’t believe that Xander quit Vanessa cold turkey.

Also, Yoly and Mal are not together. Thank God. They only lasted two weeks. Mal deserves better and Yoly deserves Xander.

hey were definitely playing in Mal’s face TO THE VERY END!

Does Yoly look like Kourtney Kardashian or am I tripping? It might just be the widow’s peak.

WAIT. Vanessa has called them out. They’re lying. I feel like Yoly and Mal have been secretly planning this amazing life together and they’re just waiting for everything to die down until they get together. I’m confused because they could easily be together and no one would hate them for it, but it’s definitely the sneaking around that’s offputting to everyone involved.

Tiff cooking for Shylo and not Sam is hilarious. Wait, Mildred and Tiff aren’t a thing? Saw that coming. They’re two very big red flags and I don’t know who is telling the truth. But splitting the rent in three because she had a child is wild, I don’t feel like Tiff would suggest that. Wait, Midlred was arrested? OMG. This is wild. This entire story is just insane.

Aussie is like I tried to tell y’all. Tiff has pulled an Aussie and has left the building.

I think Sam and Aussie have made the most progress and I am so happy for them.

I like that Vanessa owned up to her role in things as much as she could.

Honestly, I needed more questions during this reunion. I needed receipts. I needed more in general. The final two episodes could have been condensed into a 1.5-hour episode and they could’ve released it last week. But I digress. The final two episodes just didn’t do it for me. Maybe I was just upset that Netflix decided to drag it out or there wasn’t enough information in the reunion, but it was very mid.

Overall, the first season rating would be 7.5/10. I don’t know if they’re going to get another season, but I hope they do and hopefully they have more queer couples because it seemed like The Ultimatum: Lesbian Love.

Thanks for hanging in there with me during this very drawn-out season, until next time!
